Hi Guru, I am above 35 and planning to get a HDB under the single scheme before getting married. After I get married, is it compulsory to add my spouse name into the HDB or can I not add him name? He currently owns a private property.
I heard that it is compulsory to add him into the flat as an essential occupier and he has to sell his private property away.

Dear Buyer,
You can buy an HDB flat as a single. It is true that your future hubby must be added as an occupier when you get married. However, if your hubby's private apartment was bought earlier than your marriage, then, he need not sell his private flat.

So the date of the purchase of Pte flat MUST be earlier than the Marriage Certificate. Do contact me if you need more assistance.
Cheers!

You do not have to worry. You can purchase the HDB flat under Single Scheme before you get married. Your husband-to-be will not be required to sell off his private property after your marriage.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.
