Me and my wife are Malaysian SPR for more than 3 years and now planning to buy resale HDB. I have below concern before proceed.

1. I have a joint name property in Malaysia with my brother. Do I need to dispose it after 6 month owning a HDB?

Hi Dan,

Yes, the rules states that you will have to dispose off all interest in residential properties after purchasing your HDB flat.

However, assessment is based on a case-by-case basis. You can try to appeal to HDB on this. As long as you can provide valid reasons for you not to sell this property, HDB may grant you this exception.

Yes HDB regulations are such that you need to dispose your ownership interest in overseas properties within 6 months after purchasing resale hdb. May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.
