Hi Deng, As long as you fulfill your minimum occupation 5 years than you can sell your HDB flat. However, it is not necessary to sell your HDB flat to purchase a new condo as long as you have fulfill the Minimium occupation of 5 years. the only issue if you do have an outstanding loan with your current HDB flat than you will only be entitled to a 60% loan for your new purchase.

For HDB owners who have fulfilled the Minimum Occupation Period, they are eligible to purchase condo, without selling off their current HDB.
Do note that if your current HDB is still under loan, you can only attain a maximum of 60% loan for your 2nd property.

Since your HDB was purchased in September 2006, you may purchase a private property now if your HDB is a resale flat purchased without CPF Housing Grant (Non-subsidized flat).

Hi Deng,

In short, you'll have to first apply for the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) verification on HDB website. You'll get a reply letter from HDB officer within two weeks. Then you'll know for sure the exact date that you can sell.

Meanwhile, it's advisable to meet up with one of us to help you with the financial planning, especially since you'll be buying at the same time. The moving plan is also crucial as nowadays, HDB transaction is very fast and can complete within 2 to 3 months.
