Hi I need advise.Property agent helped me to find tenants for my HDB flat at Woodlands.I rented out the whole flat.The rental agreed was $2800 and for 2 yrs lease.
But agent charged me 2 mths rental ad commission. I Paid her$5600 plus 7 percent gst.Total $5992.I felt that's alot of cash.I rent for 24 mths but 2 mts rental paid to agent.
I checked and found out from other friends and I even checked other agencies who have given the answers to tenants and landlords via this Web that for
12 mths rental agencies collect 1/2 mth rental as commission
18mths they collect 0.75 mths commission
24 mths rental they collect 1 mth rental.
Now I have rented the whole flat for $2800 for 24 mths .I feel that base on market rate my agent have over charge me.She took from me $5600 +$392gst=5992 as commission. I feel that it's alot of money to pay for just renting a flat for only 2 yrs if 2 mths rental should be paid as commission. But most of them whom I have checked says that the agent charge me extra 1 mth. In fact they only paid 1/2 mth rental for 1 yr.
