We had a 2yr HDB rental contract that expired in May 2014. We entered into an extension contract with the owner for 18mths (max set by HDB) that expires in Nov 2015. We did not use any agent for the extension, the owner drafted the extension agreement and made the arrangements with us directly. Furthermore, we did not pay any agent fee on the initial 2yr contract as it was the owner who paid the agent.
However, we wish to preterminate the extension contract wef Dec 2014. Questions:
1. Is the deposit forfeited (we gave the owner 2mths' notice)?
2. Is the deposit forfeited if we manage to find replacement tenant for the duration of the rental agreement
3. Are we liable to pay agent commission fee for putting up the unit for rental?
3. Are we liable to pay rental for the remaining months of the contract?
Thanks in advance for answering the question.
