Hi I own a condo and would like to add my niece’s name to the condo so that she can continue to stay there when I have passed on. Ps advise what are the fees that need to be paid for such a transaction. Thanks.

Do you mean you plan to add her name as one of the joint owners of the condo?

If so, you can consider to Will the property to her instead as a Gift, so that she can take over the property upon your demise. That will achieve your desired outcome as well, and maybe with less fees.

You need not put her name in as joint owner in such planning. What you can do is just will this property to her in case of your demise. This will help prevent complications in future if she decides to purchase her own place or even consider purchasing a HDB since a private property owner cannot purchase a HDB unless the private property has been disposed for 15 months or 30 months for the case of purchasing BTO.
