How can I remove my name as an authorised occupant in my mother's flat?
In 2020, my mother inherited a 3 room flat from my late grandma and has now converted it to a jumbo 5 room flat. I was unknowingly included as an authorised occupant to fit the requirement of the family nucleus (My mother is a single parent and I am an only child) We would also not informed that this might affect me from purchasing a new flat in the future.

I have recently purchased a new SBF in Oct, but now HDB does not allow me to remove my name from my mother's flat and they are holding back the keys to my new flat due MOP. Does the waiver of MOP include BTOs/SBFs as well? Can HDB make exceptions especially in my case?

Hi,

1. Given your age, your mum already exceed 35 years old, therefore, she does not need your name as an essential occupier (Single can buy up to 5rm flat)

2. Please check with the relevant Branch office to remove your occupier status as you are not an essential occupier via your Mum singpass.

3. MOP cannot be waived.

Have a good day ahead.
