I am a Singaporean with a 3 year BTO, purchased under my name + my SC daughter's name as essential occupier.

My wife is a 3rd year PR now. Is she allowed to purchase a new EC with her name + our SC son?

Good morning Chin Wee,

you have to form a family nucleus with your wife to be eligible for a new EC and this is only possible after you fulfil your 5 years MOP. Do take note that resale levy will be applicable for new EC purchase.

Hi Mr Ong,

For new EC, your wife will not be eligible to purchase as she will need to include your name as part of the application. However, she may be able to purchase a private property instead.

Your wife will have to form a family nucleus with your name included to be eligible for a new EC, and it can only be done after the 5 year MOP period is fulfilled.

No, both you and your wife will need to be minimum an owner and the other essential occupier for the new EC purchase. If she intends to purchase an EC under her sole name, she can perhaps go for the resale EC which has turned 5 years old after you have fulfilled your MOP for the current flat.

I believe that for your current HDB flat, your Wife is also one of the essential occupiers apart from your daughter.

As you have yet to meet your 5-year MOP, your Wife will not be able to purchase another residential property.

Once you had fulfilled the 5-year MOP, she's free to purchase a new EC by forming a valid family nucleus with you, under Public Scheme.

Do take note that resale levy is payable should you proceed to purchase the EC as a second-timer.
