Hi, I currently own a HDB for 8 years with my wife. I bought a private condo 3 years ago under my sole name. My question is: can I now sell the HDB and buy an EC under my wife's name? Thank you for your advice.

Unfortunately you are not allowed to do so. Why are you considering this option if I may ask? Perhaps I can propose alternative solutions to your plans moving forward after knowing your intentions?

You can't purchase a brand new EC from developer under your wife's sole name, but a resale EC or private condo is possible. May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

Hi Ryan,

Since you own a private property now, you will not be eligible to buy an EC within the next 30 months after you dispose off your private property.

A good way is to stay in one of the property and rent out the other to generate some passive income. Please feel free to contact me so that I can understand your needs and provide you with further assistance.

Afternoon Ryan,

If you are looking at application of new EC, it would be advisable to sell away your condo first and wait for 30 months. If you sell your HDB first, you will still need to sell your condo and wait for 30 months before you can apply for EC. This would mean that you have look for alternative accommodation while waiting for the 30 months to mature.
