I am interested in buying a shop-house around Bugis/Chinatown area to be rented out. Also how would the financing work out? And what are the avenues I may seek for help in financing?

Hi Shop houses,not all types can be bought by foreigner and PRs.

For example, conservation shop houses can only be bought by Singaporean.

Financing depends, for 999lh, you may be able to get 70-80% financing. for 99yrs depending on the years left, may be financed at 60% only.
