Dear Sue

If you are doing a late career switch into real estate, HDB may or may not be the best sector. If you spend 2-3 yrs on it and decide to move to condo, landed or commercial, it's another learning curve and time wasted.

I'll normally recommend new agents to sector & targeted area after talking to them and understanding their background, their existing network and of course how much they intend to make in real estate. There are many agents doing very well selling purely HDB. However, there is an "income ceiling" if you are doing it alone. Let's meet up for coffee so that I can find out more about you and suggest the best approach.

Never make the mistake of joining a friend or relative. Select an agency and manager with your eyes wide open. You must feel comfortable with the manager and is able to learn from him/her. There must be synergy as it's a long term partnership.

In my team, most of our partners made a mid career switch into real estates. We are family focused and we intend to grow old together. We have very independent producers and we also have team projects to support those who prefer to work as a team.
