Good afternoon s,

It will be advisable to change the address on your NRIC so any correspondence from government will be sent to your son's address. You dont need to keep going back to your own residence to pick up letters.

1) Yes, it is mandatory for you to update your address once you shifted according to the National Registry Act.
2) It is very convenient now, you can update your address by following the instructions on ICA website:
https://www.ica.gov.sg/documents/ic/update_residential_address
