I just moved in. But the problem is we dont have a gas. I thought my agent arrange gas but he only arranged water and electricity. I asked him when he didnt arrange gas but he said its not his duty. As a result we have to wait gas for a week.
Im wondering whether this is common situation. I didnt like his service but we didnt have a choice because we are in rush. Is there any way to change agent after sign

Dear tenant,

Application for utility services is a value add provided and should not be treated as a standard protocol. That aside, it could be an oversight from your salesperson to have applied only for the water and electricity only if gas supply is from Citygas.

Technically, the salesperson duties have ended once you have taken over the property and there is no need to change. If you require a managing agent for you rental, that will be a different scope altogether.

Evening,

It's a goodwill practice for agents to assist their buyers to apply for power and water. As for gas, it would be dependent on the unit that they purchased and their request. In some estate, gas supply are not available hence the buyers will have to order for the gas cylinder on their own. Other buyer prefer to use cylinder gas instead of city gas. It would be good to have prior communication to avoid unwanted disappointment.

Hi

Like most fellow agents have mentioned, indeed it is not the responsibility of the agent to apply for utilities for the client.

However, it is good practice to REMIND tenants( clients ) to apply prior to moving in.

Water and Electricity always come together and supplied by Singapore powers (SP).

Depending on the condos, some use Cylinder Gas while others use Piped gas.

Some landlord installed Induction hob.

I always make it a point to remind my clients to apply for utilities beforehand.

As for gas, i would have taken note during viewing if there was a need to also apply, and remind clients accordingly.

I believe it must have slipped his mind and forgot about it.

He will be your agent for the course of the lease. He is also your main contact to the landlord.

If you have any further queries, feel free to contact me.
