If I exercise the option to renew my current 2-year lease for another year, and it contains a 12+2 diplomatic clause, would I be able to terminate the renewed lease with two months notice (which is what I've been able to do since completing the first year of my original lease).

You should negotiate on this term with your landlord. There is no default content on a lease agreement between a private landlord and tenant. Both parties have to be agreeable with the terms and conditions within. If this is a concern, be sure to bring up for discussion during the renewal discussion to avoid assumption.

Hi,

Nope it does not apply for the renewal as it is only a 1 year lease. However you could still negotiate with the landlord on this.
