Is it possible to rent out the whole unit of HDB flat instead of selling it if I am intending to move overseas (as in migrate there but not applying for citizenship). I'm a SC and the 3rm HDB I have right now has not satisfy the MOP to rent.

Hi Jeannie, if you have not fulfilled the MOP and in your case, you could only try to appeal to the HDB by stating the above reason of yours.

Dear Jeannie,

As you have not met with the MOP, there is no outright decision if you are eligible to sublet your HDB or not.

You will be required to submit application to sublet your HDB prior Minimum Occupation Period to HDB for their approval. Note that in the event that your application is approved, the period where your HDB is rented out will not be taken into account to fulfil your Minimum Occupation Period.

Good afternoon Jeannie,

As you know as well you will have to fulfil MOP before you are eligible to rent out the whole unit.

But having say that, you can appeal to your HDB branch office to rent out. It will be based on a case by case basis.

Hope my sharing aids in clearing your doubts.

By the way since you are migrating, wont you wish to do even more with your HDB?
