Is there any rule/policy against agents and owners demonstrating racial discrimination when renting their units out? Have encountered a few clear instances recently when my enquiry wasn’t entertained solely because of my race (1 of these agents was quite open about this).
Where can I raise this so action is taken to discourage such behavior?

Hi I’ve sent you an email and will wait for a reply
I know what you mean but unfortunately, these are homes under private ownership and therefore the landlords can have their preferences of the profile of tenants who are going to rent their place, and most of the time it is due to previous bad experiences from the same profile of tenants that resulted in such preferences. While PropertyGuru do not allow such preferences to be stated openly, it cannot be eliminated that such preferences are the practise in the market. There is nothing the agents can do about because the pay masters are the landlords.

I have been in the real estate business since 2009, with more than 13 years of experience serving the Singapore real estate market.

I am very active in the residential segment of Singapore real estate market, having transacted hundreds of deals from HDBs to private condominiums and landed properties in Singapore, and have handled many unique cases in sales and purchases as well as rental deals.

Over the years, I have also established a network reaching out to more than 9,400 expatriates, bringing my market presence to both in and outside of Singapore. This has created an additional exposure when I manage my client's portfolios, on top of the conventional on and offline platforms, where other estate agents are relying on. This has allowed me to consistently convert leads into results.

With an evolving market, where change is the only constant, I have also been investing in upgrading of my knowledge and skills sets to improve myself and meet the demands of current and future market.

not all agents have the luxury to choose their clients if they need to put food on the table. If someone is paying the agents for rejecting such clients, I am sure we will be more than happy to do so. We are not living in an idea world unfortunately, and many times, the landlord who prefers not to have tenants of that profile are of same profile as well.

Hello.. I didn’t understand the point of your reply. Yes, the agents are representing the landlords but they can choose not to in certain cases. (Let them find their tenants themselves of the exact profile they prefer.) There’s a thing called ethics.
