Hi Elaine,

Has your boyfriend's flat met the MOP of 5 years? If so, you can purchase the condo without ABSD as long as you are not added as a co-owner of your boyfriend's HDB. If not, it may be better to purchase now.

Hi Elaine,

Has your boyfriend met his 5 year MOP for the HDB? If he has already fulfilled his MOP, you will be eligible to purchase a condo without ABSD if you do not already own any residential property in Singapore. Otherwise, you may wish to purchase before getting married, but that does not mean that HDB will not require you or your boyfriend to sell the unit. It is likely going to be on a case by case basis. If your bf's HDB has reached the MOP, then you are free to purchase a private condo without ABSD. However, if the HDB is still within the MOP, you may be required to add your name as one of the occupiers and therefore will not be able to purchase a private property.
