Writing to seek clarification regarding my eligibility to purchase an HDB flat under the current housing policies.

Background:

1. Parents' Status: Both my parents are Singapore Permanent Residents (PR) and currently own a 4-room HDB flat. They plan to retire in Malaysia, sell their HDB flat, and relinquish their PR status.

2. My Status: I am a Singapore Citizen, under 35 years old, and have not previously owned any property.

Inquiry:

Given the above circumstances, I would like to understand:

1. Eligibility for BTO/SBF Flats: As a first-generation Singapore Citizen below 35, am I eligible to apply for a Build-To-Order (BTO) or Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) unit?

2. Eligibility for Resale Flats: Am I eligible to purchase an HDB resale flat as a single Singapore Citizen under 35?

3. Impact of Parents' Actions: Will my parents' sale of their HDB flat and surrender of their PR status affect my eligibility or application process for either BTO/SBF or resale flats?

Hi, appreciate your sharing. For Single require to be age 35 or above before able to do HFE to prepare for BTO or resale HDB.

Hi, their status will not affect your eligibility to purchase a flat. However, if you are looking to purchase a flat alone, you need to be above 35years old.

Hi

Your parents relinquishing their SPR status has no impact on your eligibility to purchase HDB flat, so need not worry on that.

However, for Singaporean below 35 years old, you cannot apply BTO or resale HDB on your own name. You have to apply with your fiance/fiancee, if below 35.
