Does Landlord needs an agent to renew an existing lease

Hi, yes it is advisable to have an agent to represent the landlord to renew an existing lease as it will be properly documented by the agent and also to safe guard your interest at all times.

Dear sir/madam,
As a matter of fact, if a landlord has all the necessary knowledge to do so and has no prior agreement with the salesperson who had previously secured the existing tenant to this place to be paid for during the renewal of lease, the landlord can simply proceed with the renewal. Nevertheless, judging from your question, I suppose you are not very sure about such procedures, therefore it would be advisable as what Aaron has mentioned, to engage a salesperson to take care of the tenancy renewal where your interest will be looked after accordingly.

It may be possible to renew an existing lease. However, should there be a conflict between parties, or should the tenancy agreement not be drafted in an ideal manner, problems could arise as a result. HDB also requires home owners renting out their own flat to apply for approval. Certain checks must also be done in the process.
