Hi, I recently signed an agreement: 'Exclusive to Rent' with an agent. I am not allowed to engage other agents and I will be obligated to pay the agent a 1 month rental fee as finder's fee commission. I heard from a few colleagues that a tenant is not obligated to pay such a fee and they have never heard of such an agreement. I need to hand over my current unit by end of this month and my agent has not been very active showing me around. I need help, please advise.

Hi Robert,

1. I presume you are looking to rent an apt/condo/landed? Usually if too high a sum is involved for private rental agents usually collect commission from the landlord only. But of course a finder's fee will be appreciated, but NOT necessary.

2. give me a call right now I'll solve your problem.

3. don't hav to sign any exclusive rental finder blah blah agreement with me.
