Asked by
Helloe, my mother intends to rightsize to a smaller 3 room BTO flat, but our gross average household monthly income exceeds the $5000 income ceiling. Is it okay to not list myself as an occupier, and just have my mother and father as owner and co-owner so as to stay within the income ceiling? Will there be any legal issues if they find out I live with them even though I have not been listed as occupier?

Evening,

Your parents can apply for the BTO under their names. However, they might be subjected to levy as most elderly might have gotten their first unit from HDB.

Do feel free to contact me for further discussion.
