Hi all,
I am now living in a 1 bedroom condo (sq area ard 36 sq m) for about going 2 yrs after TOP in 2011. With the new HDB rules that 1 need to have a waiting period of 30 mths from selling a pte place then can buy a HDB unit, I am open to the option of selling my place. Also market may not be that rosy in future for these 1 bedrm condo.
If selling, I would need to rent a room while waiting to apply for BTO 2 bedrm HDB flat.
Seemed like there is no gd option for singles with middle income.
Anyone has some insights to share ?

Hi Kelly,

If you are only looking at purchasing brand new HdB, you have no choice but to sell your existing 1 bedder and wait out for 30months before you are eligible to apply for brand new unit. Bearing that in mind, you will be estimated to pay up to 66months of rental from the sale of your existing property until you take over your new HDB,which is assumed that you are successful at our first attempt in making the application. Calculating 66months worth of room rental at an assume monthly rental of $600, you will be paying a total of near $40k to be renting a room. Prdon me for asking more detailed questions:

Which project are you staying in right now and are you aware of the latest transacted prices?

Are you open to purchasing a resale 3rm flat should you be eligible for it? It will be good to sit down and do some financial calculations for your next move.
