Hi All,

I'm a single owner of a 4RM HDB flat. MOP more than 5 years and have no outstanding loan.
I'm considering to get a private property but at the same time I would want to avoid paying ABSD.

Questions
1) Can 1 of parents remove his/her name from their current HDB flat (no more loan as well) so that I can transfer the ownership of my HDB flat to him/her?

2)Am I right that by doing that I will be able to avoid paying ABSD if I get a private property?

3) If Yes, can I buy HDB flat/EC since I don't own anymore HDB? Or I can only get a private property.

Hi Mr. Tan,

Your parents can't hold 2 hdb at any 1 time since they are considered 1 household. Why not consider properties with ABSD discounts if its for investment? Thanks and hope to discuss further.

Evening Allan,

Your parents bought their unit under public scheme as married couple. Hence the existence of both parties are essential to maintain the family nucleus and the ownership status. Therefore, it's not possible for either or your parents to be removed from the ownership.
