Hi,
Can I pay non-owner occupied tax for my condo but have my registered address there although I do not physically occupy the place? I intend to rent out 2 rooms only. I do not want to run foul of tax laws.

Don't quite understand what you are trying to imply here. So if your registered address is at the condo but you are not saying there, where are you staying then? Since you are only renting out 2 rooms, your room rental as well as the stamp duty for the tenancy agreement will be recorded as for room rental instead of the whole unit, thus that aspect is quite clear cut.     Thanks for valuable time & advice.....I am staying with my son as his location is near the medical facilities which has actually become my 'second' home because of my constant visits to two hospitals specialist clinics and a nearby private clinic. Travelling from my condo is very taxing for my body as it is pretty far.
    I am not really looking to maximize my condo capacity.

    Hi Mr Chee, I see. These are tax matters so it will be better directed to the tax authorities or tax consultant for advise. If your registered address is not at the condo, you can actually rent out the entire condo to maximise the returns, so what are the considerations here by retaining your registered address at the condo? Is it due to the number of occupants in your son's household?

    Yes, mine is an unique case.....am staying in my son's HDB as I have medical issues.
Hi,

1) You can only register your address according to where you are physically occupying. Otherwise, you are violating the ICA rules and regulations.
2) You could face a fine of up to $3,000 and/or up to 24 months imprisonment or both by an outright false declaration of addresses.
3) You may refer to the ICA website for more details on this matter.

What is your purpose of keeping the registered address if you are not staying there? If for school admission reason, you will get into trouble when found out.
