Hi, could you help me please.
I’m currently a tenant and I rent a 2 bedroom unit. If I want to rent out 1 room and use an agent to help me find the new tenant. Do I need to pay tax to IRAS for this income later on? Since it’s actually like sharing rent and I don’t own the property. I’m quite confuse and searching info around but still not get the answer. Many thanks

Hi,

Landlord is the one paying for the property tax. And should you decide to sublet one of the room, you will need to get the landlord’s approval.
