Hi, I am a first home owner. I have not bought any apartment before. I am interested in getting an apartment and need advice on the impact of getting a Pte apt. How would this impact the benefits that I would get if I later want to buy a hdb flat?

Morning Irene,

If you are looking at getting resale unit with grant and HDB loan or BTO later down the road, I would advise that you do not purchase the private property now. But if you don't mind buying a resale HDB unit, using bank loan, then it might not be an issue. The downside of this is that you are required to sell of your private property within 6 months from key collection of your HDB unit. Upside is that with the sales of your private property, you might not require any loan for the HDB unit or have enough to invest in something else, while waiting for the MOP to mature.
