Hi.

I am currently renting property. It's coming to the end of my lease term of 1 year. Encountered unreasonable landlord, threaten with lost rent because, according to him, I constantly declined viewings. In fact in the WhatsApp exchange with him I declined only once, and the first viewer I had to call the landlord and he then said it's cancelled. He did not inform me earlier.

We have rented other places before and no such issue. This is the first time we have encountered such harassment from the landlord. Is there any way to report him? Thx.

Hi, this may have to go to small claim court if you want to pursue action against him, however he has no right to forfeit your deposit or rent due to that reason. Do speak with the landlord and try to reach a amicable solution.

Any unreasonable rental or deposit forfeiture by landlord, you will need to submit the claims through Small Claims Tribunal (depending on amount of rent). Take note that if you were to reveal his identity to the public, you maybe contravening the PDPA.

The first option in my opinion is to always reason it out amicably with the landlord to try find the solution.
