Our landlord requested us via sms to vacate the premises on Oct 7 2014 with 3 months notice and gave us until Jan 15. We just renewed the contract last August 2014. We comply by finding a new place and fortunately found immediately the next day and had secure a deposit and the landlord was okay with us leaving by nov 1st. but then she changes her mind and told us that as per contract both parties should give at least 2 months notice.. i'm confused coz she already gave us the notice which is more than 2 months.. It is still right for us to demand the deposit right? and do we owe her anything? please advice thanks!

You should have gotten the moving out date sorted out prior to making an offer with the security deposit to the new place to avoid such situation. Do you have any salesperson involved in both the transactions?
