Hi I was told that selling HDB flat, both seller and buyer have to pay the agent commission. For me seller is 2% while buyer is 1%. However I heard that selling a private condo, only seller pays commission. Buyer no need. Why is that the case? I don't get it. I am in the midst of selling my Tiong Bahru HDB and would like to purchase a condo in the same vicinity.

Dear seller,

There is no rule stating how much a buyer or seller should pay the agent as commission or service fees. All these should be agrees upon between seller/buyer with the agent.

Hope the above helps. Should you require further assistance, feel free to contact me further.

Afternoon,

With the current practise, either it's private or HDB, the individual party are liable to pay their agent for the services that the agent's have rendered.
The concern that you have brought up is applicable to the old practise.
As for the percentage of commission payable, I always nego with my clients, buyer or seller, and work to a common understanding.

FYI.
