I have 4 kids 2 Singaporean and 2 Permanent residents, i re married after I divorce and actually my ex husband pass away recently in December 2023. My current hubby seems like no intention to buy HDB. can i purchase hdb under my name for my kids? or i and my big daughter although i am married?

Your current husband will have to be minimally an essential occupier for your HDB purchase if you are the sole owner, provided if you are a Singapore Citizen. Does your husband own any private residential property in Singapore or overseas?

Hi,

1) Your spouse must not own any private property to be eligible to buy an HDB flat with you.
2) His name must be in the application but can be an occupier instead of an owner.
3) He will be automatically listed as the essential occupier. He must agree to endorse the purchase/selling application document.
4) You may put your eldest daughter as an owner with you, and the rest of the children under occupier.
5) You may consider holding the HDB flat under Tenancy-In-Common with your daughter holding a lower amount of share so that it is easier for her to sell her share to you when she gets married later.
6) If you don't need her to assist in financing the flat, then, it is best that you hold the flat under sole ownership to reduce the hassle.
