I rented out my property to this tenant for a TA (1 year). As per stated in the TA, the tenant is to arrange a GIRO for the rental deduction. The problem happens when I realized his advanced 1 month deposit and advanced rental by cheques are bounced. he tried to stall for time and actually runaway overseas. He is a Singaporean citizenship. Is there anyway that I can do to get back the outstanding rentals from him? I approach police by lodging report, however I realize how useless approaching those policemen can be, who do nothing except in telling you to go to tribunal court as it is a civil case. But i realized that for lodge a claim for more than SGD$5,000,one have to engage a lawyer. Who knows how much does it cost to hire lawyer these days. However, will try my best not to opt this option, as it is very hassle and costly. Can any kind soul please do advise me regarding my situation? In this case, what is the point of having a TA when such things happen.
