If i'm interested in a particular property posted by an agent and contact the agent for viewing, and if i decide to purchase the property, do i have to pay the agent a commission? if yes, must it be 1% or is that negotiable?

Hi, if you are buying a private property, you do not need to pay commission. If you are buying HDB, you do need to pay 1% to the agent.

Hi Natelie,

If you're purchasing a private property, you do not need to pay any commission. The agent that serves you will co-broke with the seller's agent for the share of commission.

You do have to pay 1% to your agent if its a HDB apartment though.
