Landlord asks to split 50% for rusty and leaking water heater when i’ve only lived there for 2 years. From the contract that we both signed, she is liable to do and pay for all repairs that is out of the tenant’s hands. I had called the plumber to check the water heater and they say that this leaking was due to old age wear and tear. I also pleaded with the landlord that this leakage might cost a rise in the bills. She chose to ignore my messages after i had showed her the evidence in the contract that the tenants is not liable for such damages. What should I do?

If you are confident in your interpretation of the agreement, you can actually go ahead to replace the heater and deduct the amount off the next rental payment. Read More
