My parent and I currently own a EA at tampines street 24. I would like to sell it and get a smaller unit at tampines street 44 area. e.g. a 4bedroom.
My intention of doing this is to get my name out of the HDB so that I can either buy a HDB under my own name or a private property. How complicated is this in paper work?

Afternoon Li Hia,

As long as you sell off your current unit, you will be free to purchase a HDB unit/ private property by yourself.

But please take note that if you are buying a resale HDB flat alone, you must be a Singaporean and at least 35 years old.

But where are your parents going to stay? Cause if they are buying a HDB unit solely under their names and intend to take a loan (be it HDB or bank), they might have some difficulties obtaining one due to their ages.

Did you used your CPF to pay for the current unit? Have you thought of transfer ownership to your parents, if the condition allows? Or are you selling the unit to get more cash for your upcoming purchase? There are a few options to look at, depending on your requirement, other then selling it to remove you name.
