My parents are selling their house but there is an illegal modification that we have done to the place and it's quite cumbersome to rectify.

When we sell as it is, if HDB finds out and requests for us to rectify, can we as the seller request for the buyer to rectify it after completion or even after any extension we have?

Cos this makes more sense as they will need to renovate the place anyway.
