Dear Jack, It depends on the transaction type and price you are doing. In most private transactions, buyers are not required to pay any service fees as both seller and buyer representative will share the commissions paid by the seller, but in some cases where the commission sum is small and sharing it does not make sense, then perhaps we will appreciate buyers to pay a token of service fees. The same goes for rental transactions where if the price range is on the high end especially for 2 years lease, tenants are not expected to pay. Nevertheless, I would strongly advocate that buyers and tenants be prepared to pay service fees if they are using the services of a salesperson to hunt for a suitable place on their behalf such that they will be motivated to find the right place in incidents where the other agent is not prepared to share the commissions.
