Can I still keep my HDB after marriage?

I BTOed with my parents and waiting for key collection in 3 years time. But recently meet my partner and have plan to get marriage in 2-3 years time, and planning on buy condo in her name.

1. Can keep both BTOed HDB and condo we own?
2. Can she buy condo after get into marriage?

Hi,

Its best for her to purchase the condo now before the marriage as her name is still free. Once married, her name may be required to be added into your hdb as occupier which may restrict her from buying the private property.

Hi,

I don’t think your wife to be will be able to purchase a condo as your BTO flat would not have hit the MOP by then. You may check with the HDB for more detail.

Good evening,

Usually HDB will require spouse to be included into the unit during MOP so please check with HDB whether can you remove your name out of BTO soon or does she be required to be included into the house.

If not required, it will be safe for her to buy a condo now.

Hi Wh,

Is it a must for your name to be included in the BTO flat? If not, perhaps you may look for ways to remove your name from the BTO, and things will be more straightforward moving ahead. Otherwise, HDB may require you to sell the BTO or your partner may be required to sell the condo if you get married while still serving the MOP for the BTO flat.

Your partner will be able to purchase a private residential property after you have met your MOP, which is the 2nd more straightforward option.

Hi,

1) It is clearly spelled under this link regarding your situation: https://www.hdb.gov.sg/residential/living-in-an-hdb-flat/changing-owners-occupiers/change-in-occupiers/eligibility
2) Your spouse is not allowed to be listed as an occupier when she owns a private residential property if your BTO is still within the MOP.
3) She can only be allowed to keep the private residential property after you completed the MOP to be eligible to be listed as an occupier.
4) If you get married within the MOP, she will not be allowed to buy a private residential property. But she is allowed to do so once you completed the MOP.
