Hi,

1) The reasons why you are listed as an essential occupier are:
(a) You are the spouse of the owner.
(b) Without your name the owner alone is not eligible to purchase the HDB at the point of buying.

2) Therefore the 5 years MOP is applicable to the essential occupier as well.
3) Lastly unless there is a valid reason your name cannot be removed.
