Hello, I am a foreigner residing in Singapore. We have completed a 4 year contract with a property agent (different from the owner's agent). Prior to completing our contract, the owner of the house suggested no longer involving the property agent in the picture as I was directly talking to the owner. He gave us a go signal to rent his HDB for another year. Now the property agent asked me to meet her to sign a discharge release form. Is there such a thing? As we did not breach the contract. We no longer want her services as she wasn't helping too. We communicate our concerns to the owner directly and we still pay her agent fee for a total of 2 months of rental, for the 4 year deal. Kindly help me with this.

The thing is whether have u signed on the estate agency agreement form with the agent that indicates that commission is applicable upon renewal of lease. If you have done so, then you may wish to speak to a legal professional on how to go about this if you plan to discharge the agent, since the agreement is a legal contract between you and the agent.
