Hi, I am currently staying in an EC. Its been 5yrs and I feel like I don't used much of the facilities. So thinking of moving to HDB. Can I check if I can apply for BTO? I heard after selling EC, I have to wait for 2.5yrs before I can apply for BTO. True?

Hi,

After 5 years of MOP is reached, you can purchase resale HDB no issue. But for BTO, yes you are right you need to wait out 30 months after selling the EC to be eligible to apply. That is assuming the new EC is your first and only subsidized flat purchased.

Yes, there is a wait out period of 30 months before you are eligible to apply for BTO, provided that you fit into the criteria of applying for BTO by then.

A resale HDB that just meet their MOP maybe a more straightforward choice in my opinion, since it provides you better predictability in terms of timeline for your transition between homes, unless you are targeting specific locations where there is BTO launched currently or in future.

Hello!

Other than the 30 months waiting period, do kindly note that there will be a resale levy payable if you opt to apply for a new BTO or any subsidised flat from HDB with the exception of:

1.A Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) flat from a developer
2. An EC from a developer, where the land sale was launched before 9 December 2013
3. An HDB resale flat
4. A private residential property

Good afternoon!

Yes it is true you have to wait 30 months after selling your EC, to apply for a BTO. Moreover, you will have to pay a Resale Levy.

What I suggest is for you to go for a 5 year old resale HDB instead. That would be the best and you will get to benefit from the cash profits from the sale of your EC.

Hi

Yes you have to wait for 30 months period after selling your EC in order to be eligible to purchase a new flat direct from HDB. You may want to consider purchasing a HDB resale meanwhile and proceed to your plans of purchasing a BTO or sales of balance in 5 years time. I am well versed in HDB transactions. Hi,

Yes, you are not eligible to apply for a BTO as your EC is considered a private property.

In order to be eligible to apply for a BTO, you will need to dispose off all interests in all private residential properties (local and overseas), and then wait out 30 months, before you can apply for a BTO. Do take note that you will also be required to meet all the other eligibility conditions (like income ceiling etc). Lastly, you will also be liable for a resale levy should you decide to purchase a BTO.

I can understand that you're not really using much of the facilities in your condo, hence feel the pinch in the monthly maintenance fee.

I actually do have a suggestion for you to consider. You may not need to pay the monthly maintenance fee, and yet be able to enjoy the potential upside of your property. Do let me know should you wish to explore this option.
