Hi, I am looking to rent a HDB flat and am sourcing out units on my own without a agent. Why is it that agents are asking me to pay commission / agency fees when I show interest in a unit? Since the agent is marketing for the owner of the unit, shouldn't the owner pay the agent fees? Thanks.

Hi, that's because some of the sellers are only giving permission to their agents to market their HDB units but are not paying any commission.
