Hi, I passed my RES exams a while back and plan to be a part time property agent. Currently, I am working full time in a private MNC. I know that CEA requires property agents to get approval from their current employer if they are working in govt agencies (public sector). What about private sector? Do I still need to get approval and show CEA? I don't see much chances of my employer approving, thus checking in advance on the requirements. Thanks in advance.

Dear aspiring realtor,

Congratulations on clearing your qualification examinations before stepping into this exciting industry. Yes, I have similar understanding on the employers' clearance requirement to practise as a part time agent. I am leading a team of part time agents and perhaps I can also assist you with the registration to become a part time salesperson and work alongside you to grow in this business.

Hi there,

I guess you should check your employment contract, whether there are any specific clauses with regards to moonlighting or holding other part-time appointments, or whether there would be any conflict of interest with your full-time employment.

Feel free to contact me to discuss further.
