Hi,
We have joined ownership of the HDB flat and passed MOP already. If i renounce my SPR status but my wife and children continue with SPR status, can they take over the ownership of the flat. Or we need to sell it? My children are under 18 years old.

Hi,

From my understanding, it is not possible to keep the HDB as for SPR, you need to maintain a married couple family nucleus to be eligible to keep the HDB. It is best to verify and confirm with the HDB branch on this eligibility to keep.

Hi,

1) Even if you had fully paid the current flat, your wife will still need to have the financial capacity to take over your share after you renounce your SPR status.
2) It is only if you are divorced, your wife with your child is eligible to take over the flat on their own.
3) If it is only renouncing your SPR status, your wife + child might not be eligible to take over the flat by themselves.
4) I would recommend you to call up your HDB branch office for further advice before you make any decision.
