I am considering pledging to increase my loan amount. My question is about what happened to the pledging amount. Understanding that it will be put into fixed deposit for 48 months at least, does it have any interest for that amount and is the interest more than the interest I paid for the housing loan. Let's say I put 240k into pledging, which more or less increase my loan amount up to 500k; do I receive 2.5% (or some other figure) interest on 240k every year, means 6k. Or pledging amount is just collateral without interest

The amount you pledge will be able to enjoy an interests based on the rates that the bank is offering. You may use the interests to offset some of the interests on the mortgage loan.

For pledging of funds as fixed deposit, to my understanding typically the FD rate is very minimal. Banks extend this solution to help facilitate a higher borrowing amount for the applicant, but as a trade off they will not be paying typical FD rates. They are a business entity after all. It is also depending on which bank and the package taken up.
