I currently owns a Condo, and it is solely under my name.
1) Can my wife (SPR) purchase a resale HDB and put my daughter (3year-old) as occupier without putting my name? Is this doable?
2) Is she subjected to any extra stamp duty?
3) Are we eligible for any housing grant or is it advisable for taking these grants?

You will need to sell your condominium in order to buy a HDB resale flat.

Hi,

Unfortunately no, as HDB deems a married couple as a hdb family nucleus entity, and both of your names must be included so to be eligible to apply for the resale HDB. This unfortunately means you will have to sell away your current condo property.

Hi,

1) When coming to purchase private residential property. You are free to do it whichever way you wish.
2) But when comes to the HDB flat purchase, you have to follow their rules and regulations.
3) The basis of eligibility is based on each entity; it can be a couple or single or family.
4) For your case, you and your wife are within a legal marriage relationship, therefore under the HDB it is considered a single entity and cannot be separated.
5) So when you wish to purchase an HDB flat, you will have to let go of your condo upon purchase within 6 months.
6) If you wished to enjoy grants from the government, you will have to wait out for 30 months after disposing of your private residential property before being eligible for it. And it is still subject to approval based on individual conditions.
7) There shall be no grant eligible if there are no SC who are at or older than 21 yrs old in the application.
8) No ABSD is applicable for matrimonial homes.

Hi Sir,

If you're a Singapore Citizen or an SPR, yes it is possible. Your wife can be the sole owner of the HDB flat, while you and your daughter be the essential occupier.

You will not be eligible for any Grants though, as you currently own a private property. You will also have to sell off your private property latest within 6 months upon the HDB flat purchase. Both you and your Wife will then need to serve a fresh 5 years MOP before either of you can purchase another residential property.
