I had entered a tenancy agreement about 5months ago for 1year lease. We had agents from both sides. I had insisted on the HDB flat being an approved unit. I was assured that the approval would be arranged as soon as I moved in. I moved in expecting an approval soon. I have since been repeatedly asking for the approval letter and I was always assured that it would be arranged at the earliest. Now after 5 months into the tenancy, I am told that the approval has been rejected and I am being asked to move out. Fortunately, there was a clause that says all monies need to be refunded if HDB approval is rejected and that the contract is void. The landlord does not want to help in relocation. Can I exercise this refund option and claim all monies, as I would now face a short term lease for next 6months problem and the real estate prices would have escalated. I also would have lot of expenditures for relocation, and time to look all over again. Is there any other alternative option? Pls help.
