I would like to make an offer. My agent ask me to write a blank cheque for 1%. Is it right? Should I be naming the owner as the beneficiary? Also what if the owner banks in and do not sell his place?

Hi Curious,

For any resale, the cheque is always attention to the owner's name. Your agent can advise you the name to be filled-in, rather than a blank cheque. Only for new launches, because the pricing is not determined yet, then buyers issue blank cheque.

An experience agent will know what to do, that is, only when the owner agreed to sell, sign the OTP before he released the cheque to the seller. Then the agent will bring back the OTP to you.

Please feel free to drop me an email or call me directly for a non-obligation discussion. Alternatively, we can also meet up at your convenient time and place.

Thank you & Best Regards
