If you have cash to spend for these purchase as banks will usually not finance such purchases. In the long run, the rental returns add up together will very likely net you profit over the purchase but to lock in a bulk amount of money into such a property over the next 20 years does not sound too bright an idea from investment point of view, therefore unless you have very specific needs to be catered to for such purchases, I seriously don't see more advantages than disadvantages in such purchases.
