You can definitely seek MP's assistance. The key thing is, there are also plenty of other BTOs, SBFs and resale units. While it is definitely great to be able to get a preferred unit in a location, but Singapore only has so much land available for housing supply and it is almost impossible to be able to meet everyone's expectations.
I have also BTO-ed for 6-7 times about 7 years back unsuccessfully too, and ended up choosing the resale option, and now, looking back, I am glad that I did not had the BTO successful as it means that I will be facing more challenges for school of choice for my 4 kids.
Life is never perfect, while we strive to make it as perfect for us as possible, sometimes, adjustments have to be made. Hope this helps!
