Hi Everyone,
I just like to inquire about purchasing HDB.
We are PR couple with 1 PR child. After 3 years we are planning to buy a Resale HDB flat. We understand that we are eligible to buy Resale HDB Flats after 3 years but requires to relinquish or dispose all overseas properties. There are 2 scenarios based on HDB website:
1. Dispose any private property overseas at least 30months before submitting HFE Letter Application if buying with CPF Grants and Housing Loan from HDB.
2. Dispose any private property overseas at least 15 months before submitting HFE Letter Application if buying without CPF Grants and Housing Loan will come from Banks.
Also, there’s a condition/requirement on PropertyGuru Article that says that under HDB Public Scheme, we are allowed to buy HDB Resale Flat but need to sell all overseas properties 6 months after purchase.
Question is, do we need to sell out overseas properties 30 or 15 months before buying or sell it within 6 months after buying an HDB under Public Scheme.
“As a single SPR, you can’t apply for a BTO flat on your own as the HDB BTO eligibility check will tell you that you need to have a family nucleus for the HDB application. This means you can purchase an HDB resale flat only under the Public Scheme or the Fiancé/Fiancée Scheme.
You’ll also need to meet these four main requirements for HDB flat eligibility:
• You must be at least 21 years of age
• You must have been a Permanent Resident for a minimum of three years
• Upon purchasing the resale flat, you cannot sell the unit or lease it out entirely within the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP)
• You can’t own any private property locally or abroad. Any private property owned will have to be disposed of within six months of purchasing the HDB resale flat
o However, once the MOP has been fulfilled, you can acquire private property without having to sell the flat”
